Green Party Calls For Detailed Pollution Response Plan In Westmeath

It's in response to an oil spill in the River Shannon.

The Green Party would like to see a detailed Pollution Response Plan from Westmeath County Council "as soon as possible"

It follows an oil spill that occurred on the River Shannon over two months ago.

The local authority says the waters have been treated in all the known areas.

Councillor Louise Heavin says it's important the public contacts the Environment Department of the local authority if they spot oil in the river.

She believes the response could have been better:
