Europe's largest agriculture event is kicking off today.
National Ploughing Championship organisers are concerned farmers might protest when the Taoiseach arrives on site tomorrow.
The event is set to attract over 300,000 people between now and Thursday, making it Europe's biggest agriculture event.
Deputy managing director of the National Ploughing Association, Laois' Anna Marie McHugh says they have sympathy for farmers but hope the protests won't disrupt event-goers.
The President of Ireland is wishing the farmers every success as they continue to protest outside process plants over the beef dispute.
Speaking at the National Ploughing Championship Michael D Higgins says the advantage of the festival is that people will be better informed adding that knowing more allows for better decisions.
During the opening of the national event, the President stated that farmers are entitled to their fair share.
