Huawei Creating 110 Jobs In Athlone, Dublin And Cork

But the IDA is anticipating a slow-down in investment later this year.

Mobile phone company Huawei, which has a base in Athlone is investing €80m in research and development operations in Ireland in the next two years. 

The move will create a further 110 jobs across their bases in the midlands, Cork and Dublin. 

It comes 18 months after a similar R&D push in Ireland valued at €70m.

Junior Business Minister and Longford/Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy says it's a compliment to the potential of the region:

A slow-down in foreign direct investment is expected in the year ahead.

Midlands Regional Manager with the IDA, Ken Whitelaw is welcoming the investment in Huawei in Ireland.

But he says the pandemic has made it difficult to develop links with new prospective investors:
