30 cases of Covid have been identified in the midlands in the past 14 days.
The HSE is seeing an increase in Covid-19 cases leading to hospital admissions.
A member of the Oireachtas Health Committee says hospitals will need to act, in order to cope with a spike, but said people still have a personal responsibility to avoid spreading the virus.
There have been just under 30 cases of Covid in the midlands in the past two weeks - 12 in Westmeath, 11 in Offaly and six in Laois.
