Agriculture Minister Wants Protesters In Rathdowney To End Picket

Michael Creed is at the national ploughing Championships today.

The Agriculture Minister is appealing to Rathdowney farmers to read the document agreement and to step away from the protests.

Speaking at the National Ploughing Championship, Michael Creed believes farmers' voices have been heard but that in any negotiation there must be compromise.

The Fine Gael TD says protesters will have to ask themselves if blockading factories is serving anyone's interest.

He feels it could cause damage to our international reputation as a reliable trading partner:

 

A Laois TD says the beef dispute could be resolved in a matter of hours, if there was the will from factories to discuss price with producers.

Brian Stanley believes there are still outstanding issues and the only way forward is if talks are reconvened.

Speaking at the National Ploughing Championships, the Sinn Féin deputy says we need to get away from protests and come up with solutions.

He says there is currently no trust between farmers and meat processors:
