Portlaoise's Ashling Kavanagh lost her diamond on a train from Dublin and was without it for two weeks.
Diamonds are forever- as a lucky Laois woman has gotten the diamond back in her engagement ring after two weeks.
Ashling Kavanagh was on a Irish Rail train from Hueston Station when her hand got stuck in a vent.
In pulling in out, she lost the stone in the vent and when getting off at her stop in Portlaoise, thought it to be gone forever.
She told the story at work and discovered a colleague lived next to an Iarnrod Eireann employee who worked in mechanical engineering.
Thanks to a diagram drawn by Ms Kavanagh, he was able to locate the diamond's exact location in the vent when taking it apart.
Ms Kavanagh says the diamond has been returned to her and that she's been reminded of 'the power of human kindness.'
