Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service is reporting a record number of calls to its helpline this year.
Over 2,000 individual calls have been taken, with a 40% increase in the number of first time clients.
Development manager Anne Clarke says they've had reports of people being threatened with samurai swords and guns during the year.
She also says the number of men using the service is rising:
