Midlands homelessness is up 8% in just one month.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing tell us there were 332 adults and children accessing emergency accomodation in September.
Homelessness has increased significantly across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford over the course of a four week period.
218 adults and 114 children accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation during the last full week of the month.
Nationally, there were 16,614 people using homeless services at the end of the third quarter of this year.
It's an increase of just under 700 or 4.4% compared to Q2 and a 12.6% increase on the total recorded at the end of Q3 last year.
While some 17% of homeless people in the Midlands have been in that situation for two years of more.
