Midlands Housing Stock Has Jumped Between 2016 And 2022

Nationally, the number of houses increased by over 5%

Housing stock in the midlands has jumped by just under 4% between 2016 and 2022.

New figures from the CSO show nationally, the number of houses increased by over 5%, at just over 2.1 million.

Vacancy levels in the region fell by 14% in the same time period - there were just over 8,000 empty homes in April of last year.

Statistician in the Census section of the CSO, Brendan Murphy, says nearly 70,000 holiday homes were also vacant on Census Day:
