Local authorities in the midlands are owed over €1 million in unpaid rent.
The largest amount in arrears is in Offaly, where nearly €500,000 is owed.
Just over €300,000 is unpaid in Westmeath, while €250,000 is in debt to Laois County Council.
Naionally, local authorities are owed over €100 million in unpaid rent, with 285 social housing tenants in the red for more than €20,000 each, according to the Irish Times
