This years event has been cancelled due to a rise of attacks on the Indian community.
India Day should have gone ahead despite recent attacks.
That's according to an Indian nurse working in the midlands after the Ireland India Council cancelled the event, saying it's not the right time to celebrate because of abuse on members of the Indian community.
Professionals from India, Africa and other Asian countries make up almost a quarter of HSE nurses and midwives.
The council says it deeply regrets the decision, but feels it has to postpone to protect the community across the country.
