The annual general meeting of the Vintners Federation of Ireland takes place today.
Midlands rural pubs are diversifying their offering in order to keep their doors open.
That's according to owner of the Black Thorn pub in Daingean, Brendan Darcy, as the Vinters Federation of Ireland holds their AGM in Carlow today.
They're calling on the Government to tackle rising costs for rural pubs, through a scheme linked to the supply cost of on-tap products.
Mr Darcy says it's no longer possible to operate on just alcohol alone:
