Russia's presidency of the UN's Security Council is an example of the body's ''impotence'' in dealing with the Ukraine Conflict.
That's the message from a leading midlands defence expert who says the Kremlin will now be able to set the body's agenda for the coming month.
Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the appointment a ''total bankruptcy'' with Russia now heading the group for the month of April.
Defence Analyst, Mullingar's Declan Power, says this displays the flaws in the Security Council:
Russia mustn't be allowed to use its Presidency of the UN Security Council to spread misinformation.
That's according to Ireland South MEP Billy Kelleher.
The last time Russia held the the position in February 2022 it invaded Ukraine.
