A midlands woman has lost her live-savings in a scam.
Offaly's Ethel Meehan signed up for a course on the stock markets, and over three weeks she was in regular contact with a man she believed to be her tutor.
He encouraged her to invest in stocks and lent her the money to cover her investment.
Ms. Meehan was then told she had accumulated over €30,000 in shares but had to pay €5,000 of her own money to get her dividend.
She was also asked to send a copy of her driver's licence, proof of address and pay fees of over €2,000.
But, after handing over the money, her coach cut contact, and she was shocked when she couldn't transfer her shares to her bank account:
