Free check-ups are available for women aged 50 to 69.
Mobile Breastcheck services are returning to Athlone this week.
Women will be able to avail of a mammogram at a mobile unit from today (Monday 21st August).
It is the first time screening will be available here since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Women between the ages of 50 and 69 are offered a free check-up every two years.
Minister of State and Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke says “If cancer is detected early, statistics show that the outcomes are more favourable and I would like to encourage all women who get their appointments, to keep them and to make full use of this unit now it is back in the local community.”
