The town's Chamber of Commerce is hitting out the local reps for their role in the issue.
Ongoing traffic disruption in Mullingar is the result of "complete failure of local government", according to the town's Chamber of Commerce.
Plans to re-route traffic flow are being considered by Westmeath County Council, despite only introducing a controversial new traffic light system in 2019.
However, President of Mullingar Chamber, John Geoghegan says the disruption caused to local businesses has been minimal.
He also says it's disingenuous of councillors to act as if they didn't play a part in creating the problem:
