A Special Meeting was held today following concerns from local councillors.
Westmeath County Council have approved a new Climate Action Plan.
The document was re-written following concerns from local councillors and agreed upon earlier today.
Among the amendments to be made is a motion from Independent Councillor Paul Hogan, who suggested encouraging renewable energy sources should only be done where feasible for households.
He also requested more positive language surrounding the promotion of low carbon energy forms, again, where feasible.
Fine Gael rep, Frank McDermott requested school transport be included in the transportation section in a bid to alleviate the number of cars on the road and make buses to school more available to students.
The final document is expected to be published within the next month, and will remain in effect for a period of five years from the date it is officially enacted.
