An ERSI report shows Offaly and Westmeath have been particularly affected.
New renters in a midlands county are subject to the biggest increase in their rent compared to the rest of the country.
A new ESRI report analysed Residential Tenancies Board data between April and September of last year, and found nationally, new renters are paying on average €214 more.
The report shows new tenants in Offaly suffered the biggest increase, with a 2 bedroom home costing on average 36% more today.
While the cost of the same in Westmeath has jumped by over a quarter for new renters.
A Laois two bed has gone from €841 per month, to €943, a rise of 12.2%.
