That's a despite a slight drop in overall car sales in the region.
The number of new electric vehicles on midlands roads continues to grow despite an overall slow down in car sales.
Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry found 3,409 cars were registered in the region in July, down 0.5 per cent on the same month last year.
The drop has been blamed on supply issues experienced by retailers and the huge rise in inflation.
However, electric vehicle sales were up 33 per cent.
