The flowers - of Syrian origin - symbolise that every migrant has something to contribute to society.
Schools around Offaly will be receiving roses to plant for International Migration Day today.
The Offaly Development Company is planting damask roses - a flower of Syrian origin - and jasmine at schools in Clara, Tullamore and Birr.
Radwan Abouhajar, a resettlement officer with the group who moved to Ireland six years ago, says every school with a Syrian student in the county will receive the flowers.
He says the roses symbolise that every migrant has something to bring to society:
