It comes through the Age & Opportunity Active National Grant Scheme.
Over €17,000 is being granted to support physical activity initiatives for older people across the Midlands.
The Age & Opportunity Active National Grant Scheme, funded by Sport Ireland, will provide €300,000 in funding this year, supporting over one thousand clubs, groups, and organisations nationwide.
Offaly will receive the highest amount in the midlands, as over €6,500 in grants to support sport and physical activity is being made available for 23 groups.
Meanwhile, €5,300 is heading to Laois and Westmeath for 18 groups each.
The 2026 funding recipients include Family Carers, Men’s and Women’s Sheds, ICA groups, Active Retirement Groups, Physical Activity Leaders, and other community, sporting, and social associations
