People in the midlands are being urged to get vaccinated to prevent any spread of measles.

A number of cases of the disease were confirmed at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore in September.

The Department of Public Health says these reported cases have now been contained - crediting that to the 95 per cent uptake rate in the MMR vaccine in the region.

But Director of Public Health in the midlands, Una Fallon, is urging anyone who feels they many have contracted the highly contagious and potentially serious disease to stay away from healthcare facilities.
