A Portlaoise woman is reminding people life can go on following a brain tumor during National Brain Tumor Awareness Week.
Caroline Kane was first diagnosed with a tumor surrounding her optic nerve at the age of 10 and has since gone on to have several surgeries after the growth returned.
Her pituitary gland, which releases stimulating hormones around the body, was destroyed by the tumor meaning she will need lifelong treatment to stabalise her hormonal levels.
Originally from Wexford, Ms Kane has been living in Portlaoise with her husband for a year, she says she prefers to take the positives from her experience:
