The mother of Private Sean Rooney says she can’t put into words the love and pride she feels for her son.
The 24 year old UN peacekeeper was killed in Lebanon last week and was today remembered as a “national hero” at his funeral mass in County Louth.
Chief celebrant Fr Derek Ryan described Private Rooney as a man who was "wise beyond his years" and adored spending time with his family.
The funeral was attended by the President, the Taoiseach and the Tanaiste, along with some of Private Rooney’s comrades from Lebanon.
His mother, Natasha McCluskey, told mourners she will be forever proud of her son:
