Report Finds Increased Health Spending Not Matched By Activity Levels

Spending has increase by two-thirds since 2014.

Increased spending in the health service hasn't been matched by activity levels.

Although the number of people treated in hospital was up last year, the rise wasn't in line with the increase in spending.

An evaluation report by the Department of Health found spending has increased by 66% since 2014, to almost €23 billion this year.

However, Regional Hospital Portlaoise saw the smallest increasing in spending, while both Tullamore and Mullingar are also in the bottom seven in terms of additional funding.
