People in the surrounding areas of an Offaly town may have to wait until late 2026 to gain access to high speed Fibre Broadband.
Over 1,800 premises are included in the Birr Deployment Area under the National Broadband Plan.
The Department of National Development Plan Delivery and Reform is laying out a timeline of January 2026 to December 2026 before fibre broadband will be available in rural areas around Birr.
