A midlands pharmacist is adding his voice to calls for codeine to be removed from over-the-counter sale.
A senior doctor has written to the Health Minister, warning of a "secret codeine epidemic", as over 30 people have died from a dependency on the pain killer since 2017.
Eamonn Brady from Whelehan's Pharamacy in Mullingar while the 8 milligrams in the over-the-counter product is very low, it's still enough of to become addicted within three days of use.
He has this advice for anyone affected by the "hidden epidemic":
