The number of occurences reportedly rose over 4 years.
Over 50,000 cases of self harm in girls aged 10-14 have been presented to A&E departments over four years.
This comes as self-harm rates in younger females continue to rise, while the peak rate recorded for adolescent girls aged 15-19 years.
From 2020 to 2023 the number of occurences reported to hospitals rose by 239.
Independent Offaly TD Carol Nolan believes this data is alarming and doesn't reflect the true number of instances taking place at home during the pandemic.
