Athlone's Geoffrey Cuffe passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 90.
He's being remembered as a humble, considerate, and quiet spoken Irish United Nations veteran, and was one of the survivors of repeated attacks from a force of 5,000 in the Congo in 1961.
His funeral mass is due to take place at St. Mary's Church in Athlone on Monday morning at 10.30am.
Geoffrey is survived by his daughter Jean and sons, Liam and Geoffrey.
