The Government is planning to upgrade an Athlone accommodation site to a 'reception and integration' centre.
The Integration Minister says the Government has made significant progress in the use of State-owned land for asylum seeker accommodation.
The State is looking to upgrade an existing accommodation site in Athlone to a 'reception and integration' centre, as well as one in Knockalisheen.
Combined, theses centres will have the capacity to house 13,000 International Protection Applicants, with a completion period of 2028.
