A report from the Joint Committee on Defence is essentially suggesting the dismantling of the 'Triple Lock', according to a midlands TD sitting on the committee.
The new report on proposed draft legislation for the Defence Amendment Bill is 27 recommendations in the event of a UN mandate being removed.
These include a formal legal review by a independent body ahead of deployments, and defining the exact purposes for which Irish personnel can be sent abroad.
Committee member Brian Stanley is opposing the reports recommendations, as he has concerns it would affect Ireland's neutrality.
