The Chair of Offaly County Council is describing the need for a palliative care facility in the midlands as 'badly needed'.
This comes as a vote was carried out during the December meeting of the local authority yesterday, with all 19 councillors voting in favour of the development of the Midlands Hospice.
The HSE's selection of the Arden Lane site in Tullamore is a €20 million investment.
Construction of the 20 bed palliative care facility is set to commence in 2026.
