“We’re At A Tipping Point” - Aontú On Accommodation Protests

The incident happened in Wicklow.

The Taoiseach has described last night's protest at a property in Wicklow as "unacceptable."

Protesters clashed with Gardaí at Trudder House in Newtownmountkennedy, which is earmarked to accommodate asylum seekers.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says members of the force were "attacked with stones", a patrol vehicle was "damaged with an axe", and tyres were "slashed."

The Public Order Unit moved in as tensions rose, and Taoiseach Simon Harris says what happened will not be tolerated.

There has been widespread condemnation of the incident.
