They will be a mix of two and three bedroom houses.
20 new homes are coming to the midlands.
The development, which will be a mix of two and three-bedroom social homes, will be constructed on Shannon Street in Mountrath.
They'll be constructed by a private developer.
Laois Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming says:
"This is good news for County Laois and people with a housing need in the area. I look forward to the completion of these homes and families moving into them. Hundreds of new houses will be completed in 2023 and 2024 through funding provided by the government to Laois County Council and approved housing bodies in the county."
