Anna and Michael Carroll say they are among six households living close to the site.
A Laois couple is lodging an appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála over an 11 year extension of services for a quarry in the Slieve Blooms.
The local authority granted planning permission in August for Breedon Materials LTD to physically expand the quarry's size from 1.2 to 8 hectares.
Anna and Michael Carroll state in their objection to the council they live in one of six homes nearby the site.
They're citing the legal status of operations, a threat to quality of life and local wells, and road safety concerns as some of the grounds for their objection.
No date has been set for a decision on this appeal.
