A book of condolences is open in Westmeath this week for those wishing to express their sympathies to the family of a garda killed in the line of duty over the weekend.
Garda Kevin Flatley was fatally struck by a motorcycle while carrying out a speed checkpoint in Dublin on Sunday.
The Book of Condolences will be available in the Council Civic Offices in Athlone and Mullingar.
The Irish Roads Victims Association says there needs to be a tougher approach taken to road offences in the courts.
