'Boy Racers' Focus Of Slieve Bloom Garda Operation

The new operation follows a series of reports of racing in the area, from local councillors and TDs.

'Boy-racers' in the Slieve Blooms are being warned they'll face the 'full rigors of the law' in a new Garda operation.

There'll be an increased Garda presence in the Glendine area of the mountain, which stems from Kinnitty and Camross.

Superintendent at Portlaoise Garda Station, Eamon Curley, has issued this warning to those partaking in the illegal activity:

Anti-social behaviour in the Slieve Blooms has to stop. 

That's according to Independent Laois Councillor James Kelly who says it has been going on for years and in 2020 there was a number of cars burnt out in the Glendine area. 

Cllr Kelly says a council official was called out at half 3 last Saturday morning due to a crash:
