A Laois woman has written an open letter to Micheál Martin.
A Laois woman is calling for the Taoiseach to retract his comment that society was partly to blame for the culture around mother and baby homes.
Micheál Martin made a state apology last month, saying "we, both State and society...failed to show even basic kindness to those who needed it most."
But Laura Murphy, the daughter of a mother and baby home survivor, believes it was instead "a cruel religious regime that the state enabled and supported."
The Portlaoise woman says her grandparents were forced to give up her mother:
'Mná na hÉireann did not give informed consent. State apology was a whitewashing of trauma. We need a watershed of healing'
