Management is apologising for the suspension of the service.

Mullingar Regional Hospital is apologising for the suspension of its diabetic paediatric services.

Management says they are currently in the process of hiring a new nurse.

The vacancy was first advertised in December 2019 and it was due to be filled last November.

It is hoped the role will be filled in the coming weeks.

CLOSURE: Families have been warned of "unsafe staffing levels", with the dedicated nurse role now vacant for 20 months.
