Four seats were up for grabs following the general election, only one of which has been taken by a woman.
The results for the co-opting of council seats across the midlands is a little disappointing, according to See Her Elected.
Only one woman has been selected in the four seats left vacant by the general election, with Eleanor Clendennen taking over from her brother John in Offaly.
The other Offaly County Council seat went to Shane Murray, while in Laois Paddy Buggy as been co-opted and John Gibbons in Westmeath.
