The Irish Farmers' Association says a strong government is crucial to dealing with the challenges of Brexit and dwindling farm incomes.

The ICMSA says this government's term would involve "the most fundamental challenges in Irish farming" since Ireland joined the EEC in 1973.

Its president Pat McCormack says he feels confident Laois Offaly TD and Minister Barry Cowen will listen to them:
