The government is to consider buying a hotel in Roscrea for community use.
It follows ongoing protests at the Racket Hall Hotel in the town, as 160 asylum seekers are due to be accommodated at the premises.
It's the last hotel still in use in the area, with locals complaining it's the only venue for family functions.
The Irish Independent is reporting Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Tanáiste Micheal Martin are open to examining could funds be used to buy Grant's Hotel, in the centre of Roscrea, which is currently for sale and not in use.
Having a functioning hotel in Roscrea won't solve all of the town's problems, but it will provide a boost.
They're the words of Fianna Fáil TD Jackie Cahill, who says the government have agreed in principle to buy the former Grant's Hotel.
