The Fianna Fáil Deputy will be hoping to run in the Midlands North West Constituency in next June's elections.
"I'm not running away"
That's what Laois Offaly TD Barry Cowen is saying as he's set to compete for his party's nomination for the European Elections in the new year.
The long time Fianna Fáil representative will be facing competition from Senators Lisa Chambers and Niall Blaney from within his own party in January before he can continue on to the campaign itself.
He'll be running in the Midlands North West Constituency, which will see the addition of Laois and Offaly in next year's elections.
The former Agriculture Minister denies he has unfinished business in the Dáil.
He's been speaking with David Hollywood and says being sacked as from his role as Agriculture Minister had an impact on his confidence:
