The National Parks and Wildlife Service believe the bird was shot.
An investigation has been launched into the killing of a rare and endangered bird in Westmeath.
A White-tailed Eagle was found shot dead last month beside Lough Owel, near Mullingar.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service, who are conducting the investigation, believe the female died on December 6th.
She had been released in 2022 as part of the NPWS White-tailed Eagle Reintroduction Programme.
Lately, she had been moving between lakes in Westmeath, including Lough Owel, Lough Derravaragh and Lough Ennell.
An appeal is out for anyone with information on the incident to contact the NPWS.
Anyone with information can email wildlifeenforcement@npws.gov.ie.
