Tools were stolen in both incidents over the weekend.
Gardaí in Laois have launched an investigation into a number of burglaries.
Tools were stolen in two incidents in the Vicarstown/Rosnamullane area on Saturday night.
Between 5pm and 9.30pm, a number of tools were stolen from a shed in the area.
Soon after, an axe and a pitchfork were taken from a neighbouring farm, after an office door was broken to gain access.
Investigating officers suspect a link between the two incidents.
Separately, a number of tools were stolen from a van in the College Court area of Mountrath at around midnight last Wednesday.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to any of these incidents, particularly those with camera or dashcam footage, to come forward.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
