She was arrested on foot of an international arrest warrant on Tuesday.
An Irish woman has appeared in court in South Africa in relation to the murder of two men, whose bodies were found on the Meath/Westmeath border, eight years ago.
42 year old Ruth Sharon Lawrence was arrested in the South African city of Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
It comes off the back of an arrest warrant issued by Interpol regarding the murder of Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan, whose bodies were found on an island in Lough Sheelin in 2014.
Ms. Lawrence fled Ireland after their murders.
In a statement to Midlands 103, the South African Police Service says; "information was received on Wednesday, 28 September about the suspect being located in Bloemfontein. The police followed up on the information and arrested the suspect in Pellisier, Bloemfontein."
Ms. Lawrence appeared before Bloemfontein Magistrates' Court court on Wednesday, and the case has been remanded to next Wednesday, 12th October for a formal bail application.
