Junior Cycle Reforms Increased Teacher Workload - TUI

Previous reforms, such as classroom-based assessments, were ineffective at reducing exam pressure.

Junior Cycle changes only increased the teacher workload, according to Teachers Union Ireland.

A new report finds past reforms such as classroom based assessments, aimed at easing the pressure of State examinations, were not successful.

Following teacher industrial action in 2015, negotiated changes caused CBAs to be adopted as an additional component, rather than a substitute for other exam requirements.

TUI General Secretary, Tullamore's Micheal Gillespie, agrees with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment report that the intentions weren't felt.
