Justice Minister Announces New Supports For Domestic Violence Victims

They include breaching the 2 kilometre rule if in danger.

Domestic abuse victims are being told they can breach the 2 kilometre rule if they need to get out of harms way. 

Justice Minister and Laois-Offaly TD Charlie Flanagan is announcing €160,000 in funding to support victims of domestic abuse during the coronavirus outbreak. 

That's Government Official Elizabeth Canavan expressing concern about an increase in domestic abuse during the pandemic. 

Victims are being assured that supports are still available. 

Minister Charlie Flanagan has announced €160,000 in funding for community and voluntary groups who offer support to victims of domestic violence to assist during this unprecedented time. 

Victims are also being assured that if they are in harms way they can breach the restriction on staying within 2 kilometre of your home. 

New TV and radio ads are also to air from next week in a bid to reassure victims of domestic abuse that supports are still available. 

Rape Crisis Network Ireland says the confined conditions are particularly tough for survivors of abuse.
