A midlands business owner says the parking situation in the town is 'farcical.'
A lack of empathy when it comes to parking fines is driving customers away from a midlands town.
That's according to the owner of Style Bar in Portlaoise, David Finn, who says the parking situation in the town is 'farcical.'
He says the Council only offers parking for as long as two hours, but some customers' appointments can be twice that.
Mr, Finn says he wants to see a bit more leniency:
The parking system in a midlands town is being defended by a local councillor.
Laois County Council is being accused of lacking empathy when it comes to issuing parking tickets to customers in Portlaoise.
But Cathaoirleach Thomasina Connell says the system encourages a turn-over of cars, which benefits businesses in the town.
She says there's plenty of parking options in Portlaoise:
