The incident took place during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
A Laois Councillor is raising safety and transparency concerns following a burglary.
The incident happened in Portlaoise where a woman woke to find an intruder in her bedroom at Craydon Court in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The intruder fled through a bedroom window and sleeping tablets were stolen, with an appeal for information on suspicious activity between 2am and 2.30am.
Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley says there was a similar case on the Mountmellick Road last year and there's ongoing worries about community safety structures in the area.
18 months ago the Joint Policing Committee ended and the Laois Local Community Safety Partnership took it's place.
